This page contains all released versions of the AMT software. For each version there is a description of the features it includes. If the newer version lost some feature from the last version it is indicated on the description. All these versions are fully functional for MAC OSX and Windows.

In order to execute them you will need Java 6 installed. Download the Java SDK 6 here.
version 2.5.1


Instructions
  1. Download the files for the AMT project version 2.51.

  2. Uncompress the file.

  3. Execute the AMT.jar file to run the tool. In most of the cases a double click will be enough to run it, if this does not work, try the following:
    • (Windows) Open a command Window (Start->Run->cmd), change to the folder where the AMT.jar folder is, then type: java -jar AMT.jar
    • (Mac) Open a terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal), change to the folder where the AMT.jar folder is, then type: java -jar AMT.jar

  4. The system will ask you if you want to run the tool with the Metatutor ON or OFF.
  5. Type your name when requested.

  6. Enjoy it!

This version includes the same as version 2.50. It fixes the bugs on the version 2.50.
version 2.5


Instructions
  1. Download the files for the AMT project version 2.50.

  2. Uncompress the file.

  3. Execute the AMT.jar file to run the tool. In most of the cases a double click will be enough to run it, if this does not work, try the following:
    • (Windows) Open a command Window (Start->Run->cmd), change to the folder where the AMT.jar folder is, then type: java -jar AMT.jar
    • (Mac) Open a terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal), change to the folder where the AMT.jar folder is, then type: java -jar AMT.jar

  4. The system will ask you if you want to run the tool with the Metatutor ON or OFF. For this version PLEASE choose OFF.

  5. Type your name when requested.

  6. Enjoy it!

This version includes:

  • Profiles. One can run only the Version 2 profile. It will ask if the user wants to run the tool with the Metatutor ON or OFF.
  • The new version 2.5 profile:
    1. Offers a GUI where the user defines the types of nodes, a summary of the node's principles, the inputs, and equations using dialog boxes.
    2. The Metatutor is not ready to be used yet.
    3. Includes four intro task, 10 training tasks, and six testing tasks.
    4. Includes tasks of three different types: construct (where the student gets some help while building the model), debug (the student starts from a buggy given model and has to debug it and/or complete it), whole (the student gets less help while building the model).

Instructions

  5. Type your name when requested.

  6. Enjoy it!

This version includes:

  • Profiles. One can run only the Version 2 profile. It will ask if the user wants to run the tool with the Metatutor ON or OFF.
  • Version 2. This profile:
    1. Offers a new GUI where instead of using menus and drag and drop to draw the model, the user defines the types of nodes, the inputs, and equations using dialog boxes.
    2. Has to be used if you want the Metatutor to work with the tool.
    3. Includes six intro task, 10 training tasks, and six testing tasks.
    4. Includes tasks of three different types: construct (where the student get some help while building the model), debug (the student starts from a buggy given model and has to debug it and/or complete it, whole (the student gets less hits and help while building the model).

Uncompress the file and use the .jar file to execute the tool.

This version includes:

  • Profiles. One can run four different profiles of the tool: Student, Professor, Demo Student, Version 2, Demo Version 2. The Demo profiles does not send any information to the online DB. The professor version while running a model generates the file with the solution of the model. The student version just allow to run the tool and follow throught the navigation defined by the tool. The same for Version 2.
  • Version 2. This new profile offers a new GUI where instead of using menus and drag and drop to draw links, the user defines the types of nodes, the inputs, and equations using dialog boxes.


Notice that for this version of the Version 2 profile the point scheme is not implemented.


version 1.20

This version includes:

  • Profiles. One can run three different profiles of the tool: Student, Professor, Demo. The difference between them are that Demo profile does not send any information to the online DB. The professor version while running a model generates the file with the solution of the model. The student version just allow to run the tool and follow throught the navigation defined by the tool.
  • Previous features. The The rest of the features are the same as in the previous version.


Notice that for this version the Gating flow, Point scheme, and Help for students change with respect of the previous version.

This version includes:

  • Versions. The difference between student and professor version is that using the professor version it is possible to load and save task files.

  • Gaming and contest. This version includes gating flow, point scheme and hits to generate a gaming and contest environment.

  • Help for students. We include instructional material, demo videos, and practice levels to help the student learning the GUI and the design of the material. For each level there is instructional material under the "Instruction" tab. Here are explained the different concepts and how they are used on this specific level. The demo videos are available for all levels and includes help to modify nodes, links, equations, and test the model of the task.

  • Gating flow. The student will have two levels (-1 and 0) to learn the tool, then would have 11 levels to learn the concepts. Each level has three different tasks to solve and for each task it is offered a description of the situation, a task summary and hints. The first task of each level is considered a learning task, so the student can ask for hints or review the situation description with any penalization. While the student gets its avatar to pass the quiz of a task using hints (which causes not getting any point), the student would decide to level up or to try a different task. When the avatar pass the quiz with any help, then the avatar levels up.

  • Point scheme. The student gets ONE point when her or his avatar gets all the four questions on the quiz right with out any help.


Notice that for this version the Gating flow, Point scheme, and Help for students change with respect of the previous version.


version 1.11

This version includes:

  • Versions. The difference between student and professor version is that using the professor version it is possible to load and save task files.

  • GUI. The GUI includes an (static) avatar.

  • Gaming and contest. This version includes gating flow, point scheme and hits to generate a gaming and contest environment.

  • Help for students. We include instructional material, demo videos. For each level there is instructional material and hint on different levels (3). The demo videos are available always for al levels.

  • Gating flow. Each level has three different tasks to solve and for each task it is offered a description of the situation, a task summary and hints. Once the student gets the avatar to pass the quiz, and if there is still one task with out solving, (s)he can decide to level up or to stay in the same level.

  • Point scheme. One the student ask for hint (s)he will loose some points. The reducted points depends on the kind of hint the student choose.


Notice that this version is the first one with gaming, gating flow, point scheme and help for students.


version 0.9.1

This verison includes:

  • Quiz for each task. There is a four question quiz (hard coded) for each task.

  • Save and Load files. This version allows to save on and load rom a file models of the different tasks.

  • Organic menu. Besides the menu based on list, this version includes an organic-version of the menu for each nodes based on icons. This kind of menus make easier to access the different tools to define/edit a node.




version 0.8.1

This verison includes:

  • Equation editor. Now the equation editor validates that the equation is well formed.

  • Graphs. Once the model is created, it can be runned (evaluated) base on the equations. With the graph option it is possible to see the graph that shows the behaivor of the model along the time.
